Catalogue Note

One of a small series of similar drawings by Dusart, depicting peasant figures either individually or in small groups, in village settings. These drawings are characterised by the relatively large scale of the figures, and by the strongly contrasted chiaroscuro effects. Notable examples of drawings from this group are in Frankfurt, Vienna, Hamburg, Weimar and in the Pierpont Morgan Library, New York.
Sold in a fine antique tortoiseshell frame.
