Catalogue Note
The old attribution on the mount most likely refers to Georg Hopfer, who was apparently a great nephew of the famous Daniel Hopfer. He was active as an arms and armour etcher in Augsburg 1559-66 and worked for Rudolf II in Prague as late as 1590. There do not, however, seem to be any known examples of drawings by him.
