Piere Manzoni's unique approach to the nature art was to find in the Uovo con impronta produced for the first time during a performance held on 21st of July 1960 at the Azimuth Gallery in Milan, entitled Consumazione dell ' arte dinamica del pubblico divorare l' arte (The consumption of dynamic art by the art-devouring public). Having boiled numerous eggs, Manzoni marked their shells with the imprint of his tumbs, which he then gave to the audience to eat. The performance lasted 70 minutes, and all the works produced were eaten. Following this event Manzoni began producing and selling his fingerprints, of which Impronte, executed in 1961 is a fine example.
