Catalogue Note

Inspired by an early pocket watch made by Breguet for Marechal Michel Ney, Duke of Elchingen in 1813, Breguet created this platinum wristwatch with enamel dial in a limited series of 225 pieces in 2000 especially to celebrate the 225th anniversary of Breguet’s foundation. In order to share this with Breguet’s loyal patrons, Breguet  offered subscriptions to these 250 limited edition watches for those respected collectors who already owned one or more than one Breguet timepieces. The current example being offered at auction is part of these 225 subscription watches and its rotor specially engraved with inscription relating to this event. In addition, it is interesting to know the reference number of this watch (Ref. 1775) is also inspired by the year of the firm’s foundation of 1775.
