18k, nickel lever movement, 20 jewels, mono-metallic balance, white enamel dial bearing an inscription of the King Ram Khamnaeng in Thai, dot numerals in black with baton hands, polished rectangular case formed as a book, engraved hinged cover with aperture to reveal the time, brushed screwed-down case back engraved with a quotation from Sukhothai in English, case, cover and movement signed, with an 18k white gold Corum buckle.

Catalogue Note

This unusual book-formed wristwatch was specially dedicated to the King Ram Khamnaeng in Thailand. The inscription (Sukhothai A.D. 1293, "In the water there are fish, in the fields there is rice. Whoever wants to trade in elephants so trades; whoever wants to trade in gold and silver so trades.") was printed on the dial in Thai, and further engraved on the case back in English.
