Raymond Kopa began his career with Stade de Reims in season 1951-52. He transferred to Real Madrid after the inaugural European Cup final of 1956 when the Spanish side beat Kopa & Stade de Reims 4-3 in Paris.
Kopa, who wore the fabled Real Madrid No.7 jersey, won 3 European Cups & 2 Spanish Championships at Madrid and was voted European Footballer of the Year in 1958, joining an exclusive club with Stanley Matthews & Alfredo Di Stefano, the previous winners of the competition.
At international level Raymond Kopa made a total of 45 appearances for France over a 10-year period and in the latter years as captain. He played in the 1954 & 1958 World Cups. In Sweden he was voted joint Player of the Tournament with the Brazilian Didi. France finished 3rd in the competition.
In recent times he was voted in the top 3 of all time French internationals, along with Zidane & Platini.
