This rearing bull can be compared with another gilt bronze version included in the auction of the collection of the Hungarian-born Baron Paul Hatvany (1899-1977), sold Christie's, 25 June 1980, lot 37. However the modelling of the head, neck and nostrils is more vigorously attended to in the present version.
