Catalogue Note

Navlet was born in Chalons-sur-Marne and was a pupil of Bonnassieux. He exhibited at the Salon between 1866 and 1877 along with his two brothers, Victor and Joseph, both successful history painters. The Musee de Chalons-sur-Marne has a number of works by his hand.
