Catalogue Note

Desbois' La Source dates to 1913. A plaster study (29.7cm) is in the musée Jules Desbois, Parçay and a full-size plaster model (125cm) is the the musée des Beaux-Arts, Angers. Bronzes casts of La Source were made by the A.A. Hébrard foundry (60cm.). A stone carving of this model taken from the Angers plaster is at Le Chambon, Feugerolles, Loire.

The twisting, turning pose of La Source is unmistakeably in keeping with Desbois' style.
