veneered in ebony and ebonised wood on all three sides, inlaid with various hard stones including lapis lazuli, porphyry, agate and figured marble, applied with mounts and sculptures of gilt brass, the central door opening to reveal numerous drawers, their fronts carved in relief with battles from mythology, further enriched with silvered metal plaquettes cast with game and hunting scenes, the stand with central drawer fitted as a writing surface, in two sections
