brass dial with matted centre, silvered chapterring with Roman numerals signed Pieter Klock Amsterdam, foliate pierced hands and silvered alarm disc, date aperture with engraved surround, subidiary seconds, heavy gilt cherub spandrels, later moophase in the arch with engraving of a gentleman and a lady with the personifications of day and night, movement with five ringed pillars, anchor escapement and rack Dutch half hour striking on two bells, alarm on a bell, associated burr walnut veneered case with bell top surmounted by a giltwood Atlas and two angels, shaped ogee moulding with a carved cresting above foliate pierced frets, break-arch door with threequarter side columns, trunk with canted corners and a long door with a later lenticle, base with canted corners and a moulded plinth raised on four ball feet, movement early 18th century, case circa 1740.
