- 238cm 7ft 9 1/2 in. high
13-inch dial with leaf and shell rococo spandrels, the centre signed Chas Packer, Reading below a sector for annual calendar with signs of the Zodiac and engraved with a rural scene of a traveller arriving at an inn, well pierced hands, centre seconds (hand lacking), the arch with painted moon disc below a sector revealing a further section of the annual disc, strike/not strike lever at IX, dummy lever at III, five pillar rack and (later) gong striking movement with anchor escapement, the associated case with concave sided cresting inset with a wood fret flanked by ball and eagle finials, brass capped stop-fluted hood pillars, the trunk with inlaid satinwood fans on the upper corners, flanked by similar pilasters and with well-figured broken-arch door, panelled plinth with similar corner fans and boldly carved bracket feet
