Catalogue Note

The subject of this painting is based on a postcard sent to Stuart Davis by Henry Glintenkamp, his close friend and fellow artist. Davis and Glintenkamp met through the Henri School and went on to share a studio in Hoboken, New Jersey in 1912 and later in Manhattan in 1913. Glintenkamp sent this postcard to Davis in 1913, while Davis was in Provincetown, Massachusetts. An image of the postcard will accompany the lot.
