Catalogue Note

George Johnson was promoted to the Livery of the Worshipful Society of Apothecaries in 1637 and was Master in 1673-74. He defended the rights of the Society against James II, for which in March 1688 he was removed from the Livery. He was re-instated when the King fled the country a few months later.
