The Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian Art Day Sale offers a spectacular array of Southeast Asian paintings spanning from the 20th century to the present day, by artists from across Southeast Asia, including Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia and Myanmar. The sale includes a robust selection of modern Indonesian works, including bold, figurative works by the pioneers of modern Indonesian art such as Affandi, Hendra Gunawan and Sudjojono. The assemblage also consists of works by the stalwarts of Singapore’s Nanyang style, Cheong Soo Pieng, Chen Wen His and Liu Kang, as well as rare works by Filipino maestros Benedicto Cabrera and Ang Kiukok. Coveted masterworks by Vietnamese artists Le Pho, Mai Trung Thu, Vu Cao Dam, Nam Son and Pham Hau showcase the versatility of medium explored during the golden period of Vietnamese art, with works executed in silk, lacquer, bronze and canvas.
