The distinguished Gillion Crowet Collection, the brainchild of Baron and Baroness Gillion Crowet, dates back to the 1960s. Since the 2000s, a prestigious assemblage of standout works by the foremost contemporary Chinese artists of this generation represent a keystone of this extraordinary collection. Handpicked by the Baroness Anne-Marie Gillion Crowet, this curated ensemble of Chinese contemporary masterworks were exhibited for over ten years at La Moutarderie, a restored late-19th century industrial building in Belgium.
This autumn in Hong Kong, Sotheby’s is proud to present Moutarderie Nationale: The Gillion Crowet Collection, bringing together important works by Liu Ye, Zhang Xiaogang, Yue Minjun, Zeng Fanzhi, Zhou Chunya, and more. All works are exemplary and definitive touchstones of the genre, comprising a condensed survey of Chinese contemporary art of the highest order spanning the last two and a half decades.
