The Important Chinese Art auction is a tightly curated assemblage of fine and rare porcelain and works of art with a particular focus on the Ming and Qing dynasties. The highlight of the porcelain section is a superb blue and white vase from the Xuande period, the form derived from a ‘treasure vase’ (bum-pa) of Tibetan Buddhism, intricately painted with a design of lingzhi sprays. The sale will also present two treasures from the Qianlong period, both brilliantly painted with a vivid design of dragons: a magnificent cobalt-blue and iron-red meiping and a rare turquoise-ground vase decorated in the yangcai palette. The works of art section includes an outstanding large yellow jade double vase, powerfully carved with chilong and a unique set of eighteen soapstone luohan by the master carver Yang Yuxuan.
