Our 17 April sale in London features 25 limited-edition Versailles Celebration Cases comprising five Château Mouton Rothschild vintages with labels by outstanding contemporary artists. Successful bidders on these beautifully crafted collectors’ cases will receive an invitation for two to attend a private visit and tasting at Château Mouton Rothschild as well as the Versailles Celebration Gala Dinner at the Palace of Versailles on 21 September 2019, where ex-cellar vintages of Château Mouton Rothschild will be served, including the legendary 1945.
Proceeds from the sale of these 25 cases were originally designated to fund restoration projects at the Palace of Versailles. Château Mouton Rothschild and the Palace of Versailles have now jointly announced that the sale proceeds will be donated to efforts to rebuild Notre Dame Cathedral.
Continuing the sale, A Distinguished Swiss Private Collection brims with First Growths and Right Bank counterparts from the 1980s and 1990s. Highlights include 1982 Lafite and Mouton in magnum alongside complete cases of 1990 Latour, Margaux and Cheval Blanc. Domaine Armand Rousseau steals the limelight, with an exceptional array of Chambertin and Clos de Bèze from 1986 to 2003 in bottle and magnum formats. Among the gems on offer are very rare magnums of 1990 Chambertin and 1995 Clos de Bèze.
Immaculate 2005 Left and Right Bank Bordeaux, rare Domaine de la Romanée-Conti from the historic Château de Prye in France and a selection of Domaine Leflaive and Coche-Dury add to the allure of this sale.
