The Important Design sale on 28 May will offer a broad selection of 20th-century European and French pieces in three sessions. Art Nouveau, Art Deco, 1940s to 1970s and Contemporary Design will be celebrated with pieces from some of the greatest artists of their time, most notably Charlotte Perriand, Alphonse Mucha, Jean Prouvé, Jean Royère, Diego Giacometti, Jean-Michel Frank or Claude and François-Xavier Lalanne.
The catalogue opens with a first session dedicated to the design of the 1980s and 1990s wonderfully reflected by designers such as Tom Dixon, André Dubreuil, Elizabeth Garouste and Mattia Bonetti.
The incredible and recent discovery of an unseen masterpiece by Alphonse Mucha, La Nature, 1889-1900, brings the number of known copies of this pieceto seven, rather than the six previously acknowledged.
The selection continues with a group of pieces by Jean-Michel Frank and his circle: Christian Bérard, Emilio Terry, Salvador Dalí and Alberto Giacometti.
The iconic pieces by French artists of the 20th century, Jean Royère, Charlotte Perriand and Jean Prouvé will then lead the way to the contemporary section of the sale and its flagship lot, an Orgone chair of 1993 by Marc Newson.
