On the 70th anniversary of Christian Dior, Sotheby’s Paris is pleased to announce its first online only sale which is dedicated to Dior’s costume jewellery.
Costume jewellery lends itself to expression and eccentricity. Love for this imaginative category of jewellery, and for its unrestricted opulence, is at the heart of this collection created by Dior, the majority originating from the Galliano period. Luxury and creativity are here at their most expressive and these sets of jewels were created with the refinement of fine jewellery. The fascinating inspiration for the pieces transports us from Victorian England to Maasai Africa, by way of the India of the Maharajas. This collection tells the story of the passion of successive artistic directors of Christian Dior and gives us an insight into their infinite vision and imagination.
