This year marks the 12th edition of Beyond Limits, Sotheby’s annual selling exhibition of monumental sculpture in the magnificent gardens of Chatsworth House, home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire. Since 2006, Sotheby’s has brought together works from the foremost sculptors and designers around the world for display against the rolling hills of Derbyshire. Previous years have seen seminal works by Modern masters such as Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth and Aristide Maillol alongside examples from Contemporary greats, including Antony Gormley, Jeff Koons and Anish Kapoor. Last year’s exhibition featured Zaha Hadid’s extraordinary 2007 pavilion Lilas on the South Lawn, the most technically ambitious installation to date in the history of the show. Beyond Limits 2017 is set to continue in this same spirit of ambition and scale. Featuring highlight works from the likes of Richard Serra and Robert Indiana, the glorious grounds of Chatsworth House are once more ready to inspire and amaze this Autumn.
