Patrick Heron

Patrick Heron (1920-1999) was a British abstract artist and critic at the forefront of the post-war modernist movement. His work transitioned from more representational forms to bold, vibrant abstract compositions, famously characterised by colour field paintings and large abstract canvases. His theoretical writings and artistic output were instrumental in the development of the St Ives School.
