Nuvolo Biography
Born in 1926, Giorgio Ascani was called with the nickname “Nuvolo” (cloud) when as teenage partisan during the Second World War stood out for his speed in action. In 1949, Nuvolo moved to Rome, at the suggestion of his friend and fellow countryman Alberto Burri, getting in touch with the informal painting artists who characterized that decade sharing the interest for new materials.
The first personal exhibition by Nuvolo was held in 1955 at the roman Gallery Le Carrozze, presented by the poet Emilio Villa. The artist died in his hometown Città di Castello in 2008. His works are found in the collections of some of the major museums of Italy, France, Israel and United States.
