Kenyssa Evans Biography
Interdisciplinary artist Kenyssa Evans has centered her practice around narratives that speak to the evolving state of Black identity. In particular, her oeuvre meditates on a set of envisioned futures that reject Western constructions of Blackness. Encompassing photography, installation and multimedia art, her work examines both personal and universal themes through the lens of Black life, aesthetics and modes of expression.
Evans studied Photography and Digital Arts at Philadelphia’s Moore College of Art and Design, earning her BFA in 2020. In 2021, her work was included in the group exhibitions In Crystallized Time at Museum of Museums in Seattle and DARK SOUSVEILLANCE at Vox Populi in Philadelphia. That same year, she was honored as a recipient of the Mural Arts Philadelphia Fellowship for Black Artists. Born in Washington, D.C., Evans currently lives and works in Philadelphia.
