Henri Edmond Cross Biography

Henri Edmond Cross (1856-1910) was a key French Neo-Impressionist artist, instrumental in the development of the Pointillist style. His use of tiny, distinct dots of color to construct vibrant, luminous landscapes marked a shift away from the naturalism of Impressionism towards a more abstract representation. Cross's exploration of color theory and its emotional effects significantly influenced the avant-garde artists of his time, including Henri Matisse, contributing to the emergence of Fauvism.
