Arne Jacobsen Biography
Arne Jacobsen was a leading figure in Scandinavian design. He completed his studies at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Copenhagen, in 1928. Jacobsen created works that concentrated on the truthfulness of materials while also considering the role of new technologies. Inspired by American designers, he was able to incorporate new methods of working, including molding fiberglass and plywood. His best-known project was creating the Swan and Egg chairs for the Scandinavian Airlines terminal and the Royal Hotel, Copenhagen. These two chairs utilized single-shell seat constructions in a unique and noticeable way.
His cooperative relationship with manufacturers throughout his career allowed for major commercial successes, and his distinctive constructions gained him international acclaim.
