Affandi

Affandi (1907-1990) was one of Indonesia's most prolific and internationally recognized artists, celebrated for his expressionistic style and direct approach to painting. Self-taught, Affandi developed a unique method of applying paint directly from the tube onto canvas, creating intensely vibrant and textured works. Over his six-decade career, Affandi's subjects ranged from everyday life scenes to self-portraits. Today, his work continues to be admired for its energy and emotional depth, reflecting his personal responses to his surroundings.
