Update Regarding Sotheby's Buyer's Premium

Sotheby’s will be implementing some changes to its Buyer's Premium Schedule this summer.

As of June 2, 2018, Sotheby’s Buyer’s Premium for auctions excluding sales in Paris and Milan will be: 25% of the hammer price up to and including $300,000, 20% of any amounts in excess of $300,000 up to and including $4,000,000, and 12.9% of any amounts in excess of $4,000,000, and corresponding changes based on the relevant currencies for sales in London, Switzerland, and Hong Kong will be made. Additionally, in London the breakpoint for the lowest threshold will increase from £180,000 to £200,000 based on new exchange rates.

These rates exclude local taxes and any applicable artist’s resale right. Click here to view Sotheby’s Buyer’s Premium Schedule as of June 2nd in all salesrooms. 

Additionally, as of July 1, 2018, Sotheby’s Buyer’s Premium for Wine auctions in New York and Hong Kong will be 24% and in London, it will be 21%.
