Biography

Raffaella Gorenflos is the Head of Modern Discoveries and an Associate Specialist in Sotheby's Impressionist & Modern Art department in London. In her current role, she leads the department's Modern Discoveries sale and is involved in all aspects of the auction and private sale process, including valuations, sale strategy, collection management and business development. She works closely with clients and colleagues across Sotheby's international network on sourcing opportunities, consignments and appraisal projects.

Since joining Sotheby's in 2021, Raffaella has held positions in both the Private Sales and Impressionist & Modern Art departments in New York and London. Her experience spans middle-market and high-value transactions, private selling exhibitions, valuations and collection management projects. She has contributed to landmark sales including Pauline Karpidas: The London Collection and Masterpieces from the Lewis Collection, the two most valuable single-owner collections ever sold at auction in London. 

Prior to joining the London department, Raffaella worked in Sotheby's Private Sales division in New York, where she managed consignments across the Contemporary, Impressionist & Modern, American and Latin American Art categories and contributed to private selling exhibitions in Palm Beach, Aspen and East Hampton.

Raffaella graduated magna cum laude from Brown University with a Bachelor's degree in Economics. She is fluent in English, German, Spanish and French and works with collectors across Europe and the Americas. She has successfully completed the coursework and examination in the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) in the United States and has a particular interest in valuation, business development and the global market for Impressionist & Modern Art.
