Biographie

Pierre Mothes has over 20 years of experience in the auction business.

Joining Sotheby’s Paris in 2011 as Director of Business Development, Pierre brings his ability in leading different teams of specialists and to securing the global business.

His contribution has been critical in the success of major collection sales such as those of Bernard Boutet de Monvel, Famille de France, Eleanore Post Close & Antal Post de Bekessy, and more recently the Château de Martinvast.

Pierre has also overseen key valuations and their subsequent sales, such as the collections of Haras d’Estimauville, at the château de Ferrières, the Comte and Comtesse de Paris, Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé, the château de Gourdon.

Furthermore, his relationship with French institutions and museums has been key to several successful private sales to French institutions.

As an alumnus of the Institut d’Etudes Politiques in Paris and with a master’s diploma in History, prior to his time at Sotheby’s, he created Christie’s France Valuations Department in 1996, which was launched with the Karl Lagerfeld collection.
