Philipp Demeter

Philipp Demeter started his career in the industry over 20 years ago as a pawnbroker for jewellery and watches. To deepen his knowledge he took courses in diamond grading and as a gemmologist at “Deutsche Gemmologische Gesellschaft (DGemG)” in Idar-Oberstein – the German capital of gemstones – and also earned a Master's Degree in Marketing and Electronic Business at the University of Vienna. After co-leading Europe’s biggest pawn-broking company Philipp joined Sotheby’s in November 2021 as a Specialist for Jewellery and Watches based at the German headquarters in Cologne. He travels Germany and Austria for business getting and works closely with the team in Geneva.
