Biography

Pascale Pavageau joined Sotheby's in 1979 and is currently Head of the 19th Century Paintings department. In that role, she has organised sales of major paintings such as the Portrait de Laure Bro de Comères by T Géricault (now in a New York private collection), the Portrait de Suzanne le Peletier de Saint-Fargeau by JL David (now in the Paul Getty Museum, Malibu) and the Odalisque, a small-size oil painting by D Ingres (now in a New York private collection).

Mrs Pavageau is the only French Specialist who managed to sell two 19th century French masterpieces to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York: the Portrait de la Princesse de Talleyrand-Périgord  by Baron Francois Gérard and the Portrait de la Comtesse de Latour-Maubourg by Theodore Chasseriau, both in 2002.

Mrs Pavageau received a diploma from the École du Louvre and a Master's degree in History of Art from the Sorbonne in Paris.
