Lulu de Creel joined Sotheby’s in 2009 as Head of Office in Mexico City, becoming Chairman for Latin America in 2019.
During her time at Sotheby’s Lulu has worked closely with collectors, and has been a key player in integrating Latin American artists into our global auctions, resulting in record prices for artists such as Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, Tamayo, Remedios Varo and Leonora Carrington. She has been integral in the presentation of several major collections at auction such as A Vision of Grandeur (New York, 2014) and The Vanguard Spirit (New York, 2020). She also works across luxury categories, securing important consignments for A Monumental Cellar (New York, 2023), ; The X Collection of watches (New York, 2022), cars and jewellery.
Lulu’s career in the arts began at an early age, as part of the philanthropic Grupo de los 16, where, as president, she developed close relationships with galleries, artists and collectors in Mexico. She is currently a board member of Museo de Arte Contemporaneo (MUAC) and recently joined the board of Universidad Anahuac on their new art programme. She has a degree in International Relations from the University Iberoamericana in Mexico City.
