Leigh Safar is a Senior Vice President, Specialist in the Watches Department at Sotheby’s, working with vintage and modern watch collectors globally.
During her time at Sotheby’s she has been based in both the New York and Los Angeles offices as a senior business getter. In 2020, Leigh worked out of the newly established Palm Beach gallery to grow the luxury presence and facilitate private sales. Mrs. Safar is currently based in Los Angeles and has helped to expand Sotheby’s footprint on the West Coast. She has been instrumental in a number of large collections brought into the department globally.
Prior to joining Sotheby’s in March 2018, Leigh worked as an Associate Specialist and Cataloguer at Phillips. Mrs. Safar's last role at Phillips was acting as Head of Sale for the WINNING ICONS: Legendary Watches of the 20th Century, featuring the record-breaking Rolex Daytona formerly owned by Paul Newman for 17,752,500 million USD.
Prior to joining Phillips, Leigh worked as a cataloguer at Christie’s in the watches department. Mrs. Safar attended the George Washington University, and held the position of VP of New Member Education within her sorority Alpha Epsilon Phi.
Leigh Safar has successfully completed the coursework and examination in the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice.
