Biography
Jacqueline Wachter joined Sotheby’s Contemporary Art Department in New York in 2008. She began her career working across Sotheby’s Contemporary Art Evening and Day Sales and has been involved in some of the company’s most significant collection sales. She later served as Director of S|2, Sotheby’s selling exhibition space, where she oversaw the New York gallery and coordinated selling exhibitions and private sales worldwide.
Since 2017, Ms. Wachter has served as a Chairwoman in Private Sales, advising collectors globally on the acquisition and sale of important works of art. With a particular focus on the West Coast, she works closely with both established and emerging collectors to build and shape collections, while advising clients on sales through both auction and private sale. Drawing on nearly two decades of experience in Contemporary Art, she has developed deep collector relationships and extensive knowledge of the global market.
Ms. Wachter is also Head of Sotheby’s Los Angeles, where she oversees the company’s presence in the region and continues to develop major consignments and private sales while working closely with collectors across the West Coast and internationally.
Ms. Wachter graduated from Brown University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History.
