Biography

Gwendolyn Grolig joined Sotheby’s Belgium and Luxembourg in 2022, where she is Director and Specialist for Contemporary, Modern & Impressionist Art. She works closely with international teams to bring important artworks to the auction houses in Paris, London and New York.

Born in Antwerp, she studied Art History at the Université Libre de Bruxelles, specializing in Contemporary Art, and is fluent in five languages. She has built a strong European network and developed extensive expertise in the art market.

Her career began in 1989 at Kunsthaus Lempertz in Brussels, before becoming Director of Dorotheum Brussels, where she focused on consigning high-quality artworks across several departments.

Before joining Sotheby’s, Mrs. Grolig spent twelve years as a Senior Fine Art Underwriter, managing art risks and creating insurance solutions for exhibitions, institutions and private collections in roles at Nationale Suisse (Helvetia), Vander Haegen & Co., and Circles Group.
