Biography
Christine Donahue Kavanagh is a Vice President and Director of Collection Sale Management of Sotheby’s Major Collections Division, where she leads strategy, execution, and client engagement for the firm’s most significant private collections across the Americas. With nearly two decades of experience at the highest levels of the luxury and international auction market—including senior leadership roles at both Sotheby’s and Christie’s in New York—Christine brings distinguished expertise across multi-category collections of fine art, jewelry, and design.
Christine is uniquely positioned to guide the strategic presentation of collections. At Sotheby’s, she has overseen landmark sales including those of her longtime client Sydell Miller, as well as Mo Ostin and Emily Fisher Landau—achieving record-breaking results and setting new benchmarks for narrative-driven marketing and integrated sales strategy. Previously, she played a pivotal role in the sales of the Ann & Gordon Getty, Sydell Miller and other important private collections at Christie’s in New York.
Christine is a graduate from Southern Methodist University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. In addition, Christine is a Graduate Gemologist certified by the Gemological Institute of America and she has successfully completed the introductory program offered by the Court of Master Sommeliers, Americas.
