Charlotte Van Dercook is a Vice President, Specialist in Post-War & Contemporary Art and has spent her entire career at Sotheby's in New York. Most recently she has been responsible for leading Marquee Private Sales in Contemporary Art. Before her role in Private Sales, Ms. Van Dercook Headed the bi-annual Contemporary Art Evening Auction at Sotheby’s in New York. Ms. Van Dercook has held various positions in the Contemporary Art Department at Sotheby's over the past decade including overseeing the bi-annual Contemporary Curated Auction. Ms. Van Dercook has been an auctioneer at Sotheby’s and for various charities for the past 5 years. Ms. Van Dercook has successfully completed the coursework and examination in the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice.
Ms. Van Dercook graduated cum laude with a BA in Art History from Hamilton College where she received honors on her senior thesis, was inducted into Phi Alpha Theta, an international honor society that recognizes academic excellence and promotes the study of History, and was the recipient of the Charles J. Hasbrouck Prize in Art History, which is awarded to one student from the graduating class who has excelled in the study of Art History.
