Cecilia is Sotheby’s Global Compliance Counsel and is based in London where she leads the global compliance team regarding all aspects of Sotheby’s compliance programme and regulatory oversight.
Prior to joining Sotheby’s in 2011, Cecilia worked in private practice for over 8 years, specializing in dispute resolution including cross-border litigation, arbitration, mediation and regulatory investigations. She trained and qualified as a solicitor at international law firm Baker & McKenzie in London, also spending a period of time in the firm's Hong Kong office. She subsequently practiced in the Litigation & Regulatory department at DLA Piper in London.
Cecilia completed her undergraduate law degree at the London School of Economics & Political Science, including a year at the Université Robert Schuman in Strasbourg. Cecilia is Sotheby’s compliance representative at the British Art Market Federation (the art industry’s membership body representing the interests of the UK’s art and antiques market in its contacts with UK government).
Cecilia was elected as board member of PAIAM (Professional Advisors to the International Art Market) in 2018. She has been admitted to practice as a solicitor in England since 2005.
