Arabella Chandos, Senior Director, Sotheby’s London, has worked as a specialist in the Old Master Paintings and Drawings departments since 1979, and from 1983–1985 was the Head of Old Master Drawings at Sotheby’s New York. In her current capacity as a senior expert in Old Master Paintings at Sotheby’s London, one of her main responsibilities is the management of VIP UK clients and their collections of old master paintings. In September 1987, she was involved in the Tyninghame House sale. She was very involved in the sale of Old Master Paintings from the British Rail Pension Fund in 1996. She has also been responsible for the sale of paintings from Castle Howard, including Orazio Gentileschi’s Finding of Moses sold in 1995, and of paintings sold from the Mountbatten Trust, for example the Philips Koninck sold in July 1996.
