Sotheby’s London’s March 2020 Prints & Multiples auction will offer an impressive range of printed masterworks, from Renaissance woodcuts to Post-War screenprints, with an emphasis on the revolutionary Pop movement. Taking place on 19 March, alongside the opening of the Tate Modern’s Andy Warhol exhibition, a special section of the sale will be devoted to Warhol and his innovative peers, Roy Lichtenstein, Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat.
In addition to surveying Pop masterpieces from Warhol’s iconic Moonwalk to Lichtenstein’s beguiling Two Nudes, the sale will feature fine examples of history’s most sought-after prints, such as Albrecht Dürer's The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, a collection Edvard Munch’s emotive woodcuts, including Towards the Forest, and a complete, vibrant edition of Wassily Kandinsky’s Kleine Welten.
