OVERVIEW
The first-ever private collection of Nara’s work offered at auction comprises 35 groups of works from the late 1980s to the present, ranging from acrylics on canvas and works on paper to editioned prints and products that exemplify important phases of Nara’s career. Mr. Kurokochi supported Nara before he was widely known. An ordinary salary man, he saved for long periods to acquire these pieces. With Nara, he reflects, “You might be lonely, but you are not alone!”
RESULTS
You Are Not Alone - Yoshitomo Nara works from The Kurokochi collection achieves over HK$ 41 million / US$ 5.2 million, more than doubling pre-sale estimate (Est. HK$ 18 million / US$ 2.4 million.
The sale achieved 89 % sold by lot and 98 % sold by value.
