This installment of the Masterpiece Collection continues expanding on the vinous delights offered in London and Hong Kong. The collection has been assembled with meticulous care by a world-renowned connoisseur whose long-standing relationships with Châteaux, Domaines and the world’s leading auction houses have enabled him to acquire wines of unrivalled pedigree. The selection today represents wines that have been acquired and stored in the States, and shows particular emphasis on aged Bordeaux in benchmark vintages and rare large format Burgundy.

Masterpiece Collection: Aged Bordeaux & Burgundy

The 1959 vintage stands as one of the most legendary in Bordeaux, celebrated for its opulence, balance, and extraordinary longevity. This sale showcases the vintage at its pinnacle, led by Lafite in Imperial, four Jeroboams, and a Double Magnum, alongside magnums of Latour and Mouton, a Double Magnum of Margaux, and Haut-Brion in Jeroboam, an unprecedented opportunity to acquire these historic wines in rare large formats.

Legendary 1959 Bordeaux

The Historic Cellar Part II offers a remarkable continuation of legendary Bordeaux and Burgundy, led by icons such as 1961 DRC La Tâche and 1972 Romanée-Conti. Highlights extend to 1945 Latour, 1947 Petrus, Maison Leroy’s 1949 Clos Vougeot, and the rare 1983 Vogue Musigny Blanc. Beyond Burgundy and Bordeaux, treasures include the extraordinary 1921 Cheval Blanc, Yquem spanning 1967 to 1976, and the 1953 Krug Extra Sec Private Cuvée, aged rarities that seldom appear at auction, particularly in such fine condition.

The Historic Cellar Part II

Madeira holds a unique place in wine history, prized for its resilience, longevity, and the role it played in global trade and culture. This sale celebrates the rarity of 19th- and early 20th-century bottlings, with treasures from Barbeito, Blandy, Cossart Gordon, d’Oliveiras, and Henriques &amp; Henriques. Highlights include Barbeito’s 1834 and 1863 Boal, 1863, 1875 and 1900 Reserva Malvasia, Blandy’s 1863 Malvasia Solera and 1870 Verdelho Solera, and the extraordinary 1830 Quinta do Serrado Malmsey, historic wines of remarkable endurance and collector appeal.

Mythical Madeira

Throughout the sale, the spotlight falls on Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, offered in remarkable depth across formats and vintages. Large-format rarities include a 1983 Romanée-Conti Jeroboam, 1964 La Tâche Jeroboam, and a Methuselah of 1988 Échézeaux, alongside Montrachet in 1983 magnums (bottles no. 1 and 4) and a pristine 2018 bottle. From DRC’s reds, a stellar horizontal of Romanée-Conti spans 1990 through 2018, with La Tâche from 2005 to 2018 including two pristine 6-pack OWCs of 2017. Richebourg features in 1998, 2010, and 2017, Romanée St-Vivant across 2013 to 2018, and Échézeaux in 2017 and 2018 with an additional pristine 6-pack OWC.

The Domaine

Additional highlights extend beyond DRC to include rarities from Domaine Leroy, led by 1996 Chambertin, 2000 Vosne-Romanée Aux Genaivrières, and 2000 Chambolle-Musigny Les Charmes. Burgundy collectors will note magnums of Clair-Daü Bonnes-Mares 1961 and rare General Marey-Monge Romanée St-Vivant in 1959 and 1962. Bordeaux selections include magnums of Mouton 1989, Margaux 1996, Haut-Brion 1982, and Lafite 1989, alongside 1994 Dominus from Napa. Completing the array are pristine examples of Dr. H. Thanisch Riesling Auslese and Spätlese from 1971, together with rare Massandra bottlings from the 1930s and 1940s, including South Coast Tokay, White Muscat, and Pink Muscat.
