The ultrarare L’Exceptionelle Vendage des Sept Domaines Montrachet 2016 is a result of the collective efforts of 7 growers who collaborated on a single Montrachet cuveé after a devastating Spring frost left each with less than a barrel to produce individually. The group’s seven growers include Domaine de la Romanée Conti, Domaine des Comtes Lafon, Domaine Guy Amiot, Domaine Leflaive, Domaine Fleurot-Larose, Domaine Lamy-Pillot and Claudine Petitjean. The wine was vinified at Domaine Leflaive and aged in a combination of new and used oak for 18 months. Total production: 600 bottles, of which only 500 were made available to the public.

 comprise An Exquisite Cellar, a nod to the collector’s taste for the classics in both Burgundy and Champagne as well as the exceptional condition of the wines therein. 1999 Dujac Clos de la Roche opens the sale, followed by Cros Parantoux and Echezeaux from Emmanuel Rouget in vintages 2000 - 2003, 1999 Clos Vougeot from Méo-Camuzet and Clos de la Roche verticals from Hubert Lignier and Domaine Ponsot. White Burgundy offerings are led by Raveneau and Comtes Lafon in an array of vineyard sites, giving way to substantial offerings from Dom Pérignon and Cristal, predominantly from the 1990 vintage.

This small but concise consignment reflects the discerning taste of the collector who amassed it. With a concentration on red Burgundy in modern vintages and from producers like Roumier, Fourrier, J.F. Mugnier and Mugneret-Gibourg, the collection features a range of offerings from the village level through Grand Cru. First Growth Bordeaux follows in vintages ranging from 1982 - 2010 along with an assortment of Super Tuscans and domestic greats Opus One and Hundred Acre.

This eclectic mix of Bordeaux and Napa hails from a single cellar and a collector committed to the greats of both the Old and New World. Bordeaux highlights include the 1934 Cheval Blanc and 1947 Latour which give way to broad offerings of iconic Napa from Mondavi featured in vintages 1973 - 1983, Beaulieu in 1969 - 1978, Chappellet in 1970 - 1987 and Montelena in 1975 - 1982.&nbsp;

A result of four decades of collecting, these wines have remained in professional storage since their acquisition. Bordeaux features heavily, spanning vintages 1961 - 1990 with highlights including 1961 Palmer, 1982 Lafleur and 1989 Haut Brion. An assortment of rarities follow, including 1947 Pol Roger and 1989 Roumier Corton Charlemagne before the legendary 1941 Inglenook takes the consignment abroad.

The sale begins with a single bottle of the ultrarare L’Exceptionelle Vendage des Sept Domaines Montrachet 2016, a result of the collective efforts of 7 growers who collaborated on a single Montrachet cuveé after a devastating Spring frost left each with less than a barrel to produce on their own. The group, which includes Domaine de la Romanée Conti, Domaines des Comtes Lafon and Domaine Leflaive combined for 600 bottles in total, of which only 500 were released to the public. The ensuing 181 lots hail from a single collection we’ve titled An Exquisite Cellar, a nod to the collector’s taste for the classics in both Burgundy and Champagne as well as the exceptional condition of the wines therein. Dujac, Rouget, Ponsot, Lignier and Raveneau abound with a notable focus on vintages 1999 - 2003 and give way to Dom Perignon and Cristal featured most prominently in the blockbuster 1990 vintage. A small consignment of Pristine Jacques Selosse appears next in vintages 1990, 1995 and 1999 before the sale refocuses on red Burgundy and Bordeaux with Roumier, Fourrier and Mugnier representing the former and Latour, Lafite and Margaux the latter. A wealth of aged Bordeaux and Napa populate the next 150 or so lots with highlights ranging from 1934 Cheval Blanc, 1947 Latour and 1982 Lafleur to the legendary 1941 Inglenook, 1978 Diamond Creek Lake and verticals of Beaulieu, Montelena, Mondavi and Chappellet spanning vintages 1947 - 1982.
