In this live December Day Sale of Old Master Paintings in London we are delighted to present a rich and wide variety of works hailing from over five centuries from all of the major national schools of art at a broad range of price points. The sale is distinguished by several outstanding northern paintings of varied genres, including an alluring Allegory of Autumn by Gérard de Lairesse, a lively carnival scene by Matthijs Naiveu, and an enigmatic portrait of a man by an anonymous Dutch artist. These are complemented by notable Italian highlights, such as a Venetian double portrait formerly in the Borghese collection and a rare still life of birds, insects and flowers by Orsola Maddalena Caccia. The British School is represented by a self-portrait by Mary Beale and a newly rediscovered Holy Family by Johann Zoffany. Finally, the sale features an impressive group of works from distinguished private collections, including those of Dr. Hinrich Bischoff, Ambassador J.
