A Cellar of Distinction: The Legacy Collection of Jörg G. Bucherer

Featuring stellar classics from Bordeaux's Left Bank, the auction opens with éclat: two 12-bottle cases of Lafite 1982 in owc, followed by other much sought-after vintages from all five of Bordeaux Left Bank’s First Growths – many in parcel quantities. Highlights include a case of magnums of Mouton 1982, Haut Brion 1989 (a full case each of magnums and bottles), a parcel of Latour 1996 and 3 cases of the magnificent Margaux 1983. Further legendary Left Bank wines on offer include no fewer than 5 cases of La Mission Haut-Brion 1989. Finally, d’Yquem from the scintillating 1986 and 1989 vintages rounds off the Left Bank section with a flourish.

Amongst the brilliant gems from Bordeaux’s Right Bank are 2 double magnums of Petrus 1989 and 1990, in excellent condition and with exceptional provenance, together with a case of Lafleur 1990 and Cheval Blanc 1998. ‘From magnum in 2016, this has all the exoticism of the cru, with richness and depth, still evolving with its powerful tannins. Nevertheless, it slips down with great ease! I think, now, the 1990 has more depth and volume, but this is pure joy, fine-textured and with myriad, spicy tastes.’ Serena Sutcliffe, MW about Petrus 1989 and 1990 Parcels of Angélus, Ausone and Pavie complete the dazzling line-up from the Right Bank, with highlights such as Angélus 2000, Ausone 1998 and Pavie 2000.

Burgundy follows and brings with it the jewel in the crown of this auction: six 12-bottle cases of Domaine Leroy showcasing 5 different Grands Crus: Richebourg 2001, Romanée St. Vivant 2000 and 2001, and Corton, Les Renardes, Clos de Vougeot and Latricières Chambertin all from the 2000 vintage. Further enticing lots on offer include 9 cases of Clos de Tart spanning vintages 1998-2003; Clos de la Roche 2002 from Domaine Ponsot and Hubert Lignier, and Domaine Fourrier’s Clos St. Jacques 1999 and 2002 - presenting collectors with the opportunity for some tempting tasting comparisons.
