otheby’s Hong Kong is delighted to present our final Spirits auction of 2022, with December’s edition of: Distilled | Whisky + Moutai. This stunning auction comprises 155 lots of the finest Japanese and Scotch Whisky before closing with more than 90 lots of extraordinary Kweichow Moutai, including an individual bottle of the 2018 release of the iconic Aged-80-Years, in its original certified presentation case.
Karuizawa leads the Japanese selection in this sale, with a striking array of highly-sought after bottles including the beautiful 1980-1982 Thousand Arrows Set, two of the La Maison Du Whisky special 1965 50-Year-Old releases – the Sherry Cask #2372 and Bourbon Cask #8636 – and the glorious 1971 Noh 41-Year-Old Cask #1842. Beyond further selections from the Karuizawa Golden Geisha, Aqua Of Life, Samurai Cask and Sumo series, we also treated to rare bottles from Hanyu, Chichibu, Nikka and Yamazaki. A true roll-call of Japan’s finest and most respected distillery names!
Not to be outdone, fine Scotch from the most iconic distilleries is also on full display. Whilst this section is led off by a range of superb bottles from Macallan, including the 1946 Select Reserve 52-Year-Old and a wonderful selection of 25-Year-Old Anniversary bottling from the 1960s and 70s, the limelight for Scotland in this sale is stolen by the stunning bottle of Bowmore 52-Year-Old 1965, one of just 232 bottles from Bowmore’s 50-Year-Old Vaults Series 3rd Edition. Interesting Douglas Laing bottlings of Port Ellen also stand out, alongside assorted old favourites from Dalmore, Lagavulin, Glenfarclas, Glendronach, Glenrothes and more.
Finally, we are delighted to offer 91 extraordinary lots of the ever-popular Chinese spirit Kweichow Moutai, with selection from the 1980s to recent years. Highlights include a rare bottle of the 2018 release of Kweichow Moutai Aged-80-Years, Flying Fairy bottlings from the 1980s to the present day, and multiple HK Friends of Moutai Special Editions.
Distilled | Whisky + Moutai will open for bidding on Wednesday 7th December, with the lots beginning to close at 1-minute intervals online from 10AM HKT on Friday 16th December.
