O ver more than fifty years, distinguished New York Anthropologists Abe Rosman and Paula Rubel scoured auctions, flea markets, galleries and the homes of fellow collectors in search of fine classical artworks from ancient cultures in and around the Pacific Ocean.

With their combined knowledge, expertise, and appreciation of beauty they gathered an extraordinary survey of rare artworks from Oceania and the Northwest Coast of North America.

Visitors to their home were invariably treated to a feast: of a good meal, of warm company, or erudite scholarship, and of beautiful artwork.
