Description
Château Calon Ségur 1947
St. Estèphe, 3ème Cru Classé
u. ts, heavily bin-soiled label, Dutch tax-striped adhered to capsule
Last drunk in 2013 and English bottled in Margate by Osborne and Son. Small cork and good level. Great colour. Cassis and cedarwood on the nose. Herbs, tobacco and with totally rich, supple fruit showing the immense class of Calon Ségur's exposure to the Gironde. Lovely balance of ripeness, fruit and fresh acidity which you do not find in every 1947. Almost a Bailey's Cream taste! Stunning - absolutely at First Growth level. Serena Sutcliffe, MW
