Description
Château Cheval Blanc 1995
St. Emilion, 1er Grand Cru Classé (A)
Levels bn or into the neck
Harvest from 15 to 28 September. In the previous 50 years at Cheval Blanc, only the 1990 and the 1989 were picked earlier which shows how things have changed climatically since then. 44hl/ha made - a generous vintage. 12.8% alcohol. Cabernet Franc 53%, Merlot 47%. Due to circumstances beyond his control (Mother Nature!), this was Pierre Lurton's first great vintage. In 2023, woodsmoke and leather on the nose, always a mark of the property, with a touch of meatiness. Dense, rich and chocolatey on the palate, thick-textured and with a long finish. Serena Sutcliffe, MW
